Focus on environmental indicators
Reliable environmental data is becoming increasingly important in modern timber construction. With the independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for CLTPLUS and glued laminated timber (GLT), THEURL provides transparent and product-specific indicators for the environmental assessment of construction projects. Anyone wishing to build in a resource-efficient manner needs not only innovative materials, but also reliable data. This is because the environmental impact of construction products is playing an increasingly important role in the planning and implementation of modern timber construction projects. The new OIB Guideline 7 also places greater emphasis on the life cycle assessment of buildings and sets limit values for the so-called Global Warming Potential (GWP), i.e. the life cycle greenhouse gas potential.
Environmental impacts throughout the entire life cycle
With the new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for CLTPLUS and BSH, THEURL has established a robust data foundation for the assessment of its timber construction products. The EPDs document key environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle – from raw material extraction through manufacture and use to end-of-life and potential recycling options. The declarations were drawn up in accordance with the international standards EN 15804+A2 and EN ISO 14025 and have been independently verified. This provides standardised and transparent environmental indicators that can be used for the life cycle assessment of buildings.
Greater planning certainty for timber construction
For architects, specialist designers and building owners, EPDs provide an important basis for taking environmental impacts into account as early as the planning stage. The product-specific data supports the calculation of buildings’ carbon footprints, the evaluation of different material solutions and documentation as part of building certification schemes.
With the new EPDs for CLTPLUS and glulam, THEURL underlines its commitment to combining high-quality timber construction products with transparent and verifiable environmental information.
