During your apprenticeship as a wood technician, you will learn how to professionally process sawn timber, planed timber or glulam on modern equipment. With your technical know-how and manual skills, you will become part of a real profession of the future – practical, in demand and full of opportunities.
What you can expect
The wood technician apprenticeship is versatile and varied. During the training phase you will gradually acquire expertise in numerous areas of the company. This includes:
- Operating and maintaining computer-controlled woodworking machines, e.g. log sorting, sawing and thick timber lines
- The creation of cutting pattern calculations and their optimisation is part of the commercial training
- Proper drying and storage of the sawn timber.
- Monitoring the conveyor systems and production lines and carrying out the necessary quality control.
- In maintenance and servicing you will familiarise yourself with the hydraulic, pneumatic and electrotechnical functions of the systems.

- Specialisation:
2 years basic module in wood technology, 1 year main module in sawing technology or materials production - Vocational school: Provincial vocational school for wood technology in Kuchl
- Apprentice remuneration:
1st year of apprenticeship € 934.04 net,
2nd year of apprenticeship € 1342.49 net,
3rd year of apprenticeship € 1702.57 net
From the age of 18, you automatically earn the apprentice’s salary for the 3rd year of apprenticeship.
