From the camaraderie room to the vehicle hall

The centrepiece of the building is the spacious vehicle hall, which offers six parking spaces for vehicles. On the ground floor, there is a modern doctor’s surgery as well as operationally relevant rooms for the fire brigade, such as a fire station, changing rooms, a breathing apparatus workshop and a workshop. On the upper floor there is a comradeship room, a training room, a youth room and various storage rooms.

Solution approach

The building was constructed using a hybrid design of timber frame construction with glulam, as well as CLTPLUS solid wood panels and reinforced concrete construction and has efficient building technology. The entire property is heated by two air-to-water heat pumps and most of the heat is emitted via underfloor heating.

Result

The new fire station in Buch in Tyrol is not only a functional operations centre, but also a prime example of sustainable construction. Around 165 m³ of CLT wall and ceiling elements in visible and industrial quality have been installed and around 79 m³ of glulam has been used. A special feature of the joinery is the block bolting with factory pre-assembly.
