Construction of the new Villach kindergarten

Kindergarten, Carinthia

With the construction of the new kindergarten, including a mini-education lab, the tpv Technology Park Villach has not only created a pioneering educational programme for the youngest children, but also modern and healthy educational spaces made of wood. A place of learning where technology, natural sciences, computer science and maths can be experienced through research and discovery. The research centre for three to six-year-olds is unique in this form and focuses on a playful approach to nature and the environment.

A three-storey educational facility in sustainable timber construction

The client opted for the CLTPLUS solid timber product from THEURL.

The timber construction planning, design and assembly was carried out by Kulmer Bau in Pischelsdorf. Over 215 CLTPLUS components form the walls, ceilings and roof structure and three different surface qualities in visible, industrial plus and industrial quality were used.

Stairs from CLTPLUS

The CLTPLUS stairs are a particular highlight of the project. The ready-to-install solid wood staircases were prefabricated at THEURL in Steinfeld on a project-specific basis and according to the customer’s specifications. Two staircases with CLTPLUS flights and attached treads made of glulam wedges were manufactured, as well as another staircase made of CLTPLUS in visible quality on both sides.

Millimetre-precise machining

In addition, the solid wood panels were machined in advance at THEURL with millimetre precision using various joinery services – such as slots on the end faces.

Perfectly planned from A to Z

With the 16-strong timber construction team, projects of any size can be imported into all four common CAD programs such as SEMA, Dietrich’s, cadwork and hsbcad and worked on to produce an error-free working drawing.
