The Leopoldquartier Office

Commercial building, Vienna

Just a few minutes’ walk from Vienna’s vibrant first district and surrounded by the Augarten, Wettsteinpark and the lively Danube Canal, the Leopoldquartier Office is being built. The office building has been designed with sustainability in mind. A working environment is being built that combines nature and urban life in the best possible way.

Hybrid construction system

In the coming weeks and months, the solid wood panels will be prefabricated in the factory and processed with millimetre precision using our joinery systems.
In a further step, the prefabricated reinforced concrete components will be connected to the CLTPLUS at the Oberndorfer factory. This is done with OHC connectors. This creates a joint load-bearing effect and the advantages of both building materials can be optimally utilised.

A green lighthouse project is being created

The green lighthouse project in the centre of the city is impressive for many reasons.

One of these is the timber hybrid construction method with ceiling elements from THEURL made of CLTPLUS and concrete. The 12 cm thick concrete layer on top and the 14 cm thick CLTPLUS ceiling element underneath with a 5-layer structure can be optimally combined with each other.

Advantages

The CLTPLUS ceiling element fulfils the following functions

1

It is sustainable and the office building sequesters CO2

2

The visual quality is a real eye-catcher

3

A pleasant working environment is created

4

Humidity, heat and cold are regulated with wood

A piece of wood: from Carinthia to Vienna in just a few days

On Sunday, 14 April 2024, the first piece of wood left our plant in Steinfeld. This time, however, not by lorry. No, it was cycled to the Tauern lock. The planning company UBM Development came up with something special for the start of construction, namely a relay race, with the proceeds going to Lebenshilfe.

The first piece of timber will not be delivered as usual, but will be delivered to Vienna sustainably and through the sporting efforts of many participants. The starting signal was given at our plant in Steinfeld and Hannes Theurl cycled 45 kilometres to Mallnitz station with full commitment, manpower and glorious weather.

The piece of wood was handed over there and the journey continued with either a runner, cyclist or paddler. Until the piece of wood finally arrived in Vienna on Tuesday.
