CBA pilot project, 141 Raiffeisenstrasse

Multi-dwelling building, Bad Kohlgrub (D)

Wood as far as the eye can see. The architectural firm CBA, which specialises in designing with standardised components and room modules, has built a holiday home building made entirely of wood in Bad Kohlgrub, Bavaria.

Project information

Use: Holiday homes
Location: Bad Kohlgrub (D)
Completion: 2021
Theurl products used: 169.25 m³ CLTPLUS walls, ceilings and roof

Project partners

Timber construction: Holzbau Ott
CLTPLUS design: Mass Timber Solutions GmbH
Architect: Clemens Böhmer

Standardised construction with wood

The walls, ceilings, roof panels and canopy panels were all made from CLT elements. The surfaces were left largely untreated, which lends the modern design a cosy atmosphere. A total of 1,069 square metres of CLT panels were used, 657 square metres of which were with visible surfaces.

Pre-planned, prefabricated, fully integrated

The entire electrical design and all the routing for cables and sockets were carried out 100% in advance.
Another special feature of the pilot project is the preparation of the exposed walls for the electrical installation by providing deep holes for the cables. All components were also provided with prefabricated means of lifting to ensure uncomplicated and subsequently invisible installation.

"More prefabrication,
more quality"

Two of the three storeys of our CBA pilot project, 141 are being realised in CLT. With the digital building material CLT (Cross Laminated Timber), we are increasing the already high degree of prefabrication and specifying building shell quality. With our partner for digital timber construction, Mass Timber Solutions GmbH, the digital twin is created as the basis for the further design steps.
