Mountain hut, Schnalstal Valley

The Schöne Aussicht mountain hut is located in high alpine terrain at an altitude of 2,845 metres. Sited at the junction between the Austrian Ötztal and the South Tyrolean Schnalstal, namely on the nearby Hochjoch, it has been providing shelter and accommodation for decades and has always been deeply rooted in its location. Surrounded by the ice of the Hochjochfern, it offers an unbelievably beautiful panorama of the summits. With the extension in timber construction, the Schöne Aussicht offers a sophisticated combination of authentic hut flair and plenty of comfort.

Building with solid timber
at lofty heights

Not only the weather conditions at 2,845 metres, but also the logistics posed a challenge when extending the mountain hut. Special transport was required for the delivery routed along steep gravel roads.

CLT ceilings and roof elements during construction

The newly built terrace invites you to linger on warm sunny days.

The ceiling and roof elements consisting of CLTPLUS and glulam ensured a fast construction time due to their low weight. A total of 125 m³ of CLT ceiling elements and 23 m³ of glulam in visible quality were installed in alpine weather conditions. The 3-storey extension with a total net area of 160 m² accommodates a guest room as well as staff and guest rooms with corresponding sanitary facilities.
