Vis-à-Vis Vienna
Participative creation of a climate-neutral building showcase
In the “Village” municipal development area in the 3rd district of Vienna, a scalable, climate-neutral residential and commercial building is currently being created in a participative manner with the Vis-à-Vis timber building project. Its primary objective is to show how measures for climate protection and multi-storey affordable housing projects can be balanced. The Vis-à-Vis complex can and will be a showcase for many other projects in urban and social residential housing.
The overall project includes the entire life cycle, from planning, building all the way through to dismantling. The programming, the construction materials used as well as energy sources and consumption are closely examined. There is an additional focus on the co-creative process with the future users.
Timber-concrete composite ceilings
The eight storey structure will be realised as solid timber construction from the second floor. A significant component of the static construction is made up of 1,350 m³ of visibly integrated CLTPLUS ceiling elements. For the North/West section, notches have been milled in 47 solid timber ceiling elements as a preparation for the 80 mm concrete layer. In addition, over 159 m³ of glued laminated timber have been fitted in the joinery services centre and delivered directly to Holzbau Weissenseer.
Visit of the Vis-à-Vis construction group to our CLTPLUS production site
The Vis-à-Vis construction group visited us at our site in Steinfeld. They were interested in how a solid timber board is actually made, which is then used for residential construction, so we gave them a bit of insight into our production process. During the tour of production, we were able to explain every individual detail.
