In the heart of the western Weinviertel region, an impressive new building stands out, impressing not only with its architectural beauty but also with its innovative construction.
The Hollabrunn school building sets new standards due to its sustainability and functionality. In 2024, a modern education centre was built in the school town, combining an expanded elementary school, a special needs school, a music school, a large sports hall, and a shared afternoon program under one roof. The new education campus is not just a place of learning, but much more a vibrant hub that connects the community through education, culture and sports. In addition, the CLTPLUS solid wood elements used in the walls, ceiling, and roof create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ecological and sustainable construction with timber creates a pleasant indoor climate for the students, promoting learning and well-being.
THEURL supplied over 3,400 m³ of CLTPLUS for this impressive project. The individual solid wood panels were processed at the joinery service centre using deep-hole drilling and numerous drilling operations. All ceiling elements also received a factory-applied moisture protection film. This protected the components from rain during the construction phase.
Architect Ernst Maurer
“During the planning phase, we placed particular emphasis on an open design using sustainable construction methods: Interior courtyards create light-filled spaces, and the use of wood as a building material creates a pleasant indoor climate. By connecting it to the town hall, we now have a compact, coherent solution that can also be expanded cost-effectively at any time.”
